The Big Bus Ride

How is it going everyone. You guys want to know what is sad? I was probably sitting down for more time than most of you this week!

Oh goodness, that doesn't happen that much. I left Ushuaia Tuesday at 5 in the morning, then traveled about 30 hours in bus to Comodoro, was there for 12 hours, then traveled 30 hours back and got home Thursday in the night.

Right as soon as I got back we went to go teach Juan. I was pretty tired. And I had a flipping beard, that was awesome. (I forgot to bring my razor to Comodoro). But it was actually a really good lesson. He is taking some big steps to be able to get baptized!

Also, My comp is so awesome!!! His name is Elder Harris and he is from North Carolina. He has been a member for two years. He is the only member of his family and is super excited to work. He really is such a boss and has an awesome southern accent!

Well, Im glad to be back in the field and not on a bus! I like being able to work!

Have a great week team!

Love,

Elder Himes

Training

Hey Team! How are you all doing? I'm doing really good.

This was the last week for my companion here in Ushuaia. He is going to Trewlew. I'm going to stay here, and Im going to Train!!! Woo hoo!!! I'm so excited. It's going to be awesome.

So tomorrow I leave Ushuaia at 5 in the morning. I'm going to travel 24 hours in a bus to Comodoro, be there for the day to pick up my companion, and then ride all the way back for 24 hours. It is going to be awesome!

We have an investigator that's named Juan that is progressing a lot. He is from Peru. He went to church and 2 baptisms this week! He is probably to coolest investigator I've had, on top of the fact that he is progressing a lot and making changes in his life, he listens to some groovy 80´s rap.

I love you team! Have a great week!

Love,

Happy Birthday Mission!

Hey Team. How is it going? Guys, I love being a missionary. It is super awesome!

This week we had a our zone meeting. I had to give a talk about Miracles and how they come after our faith. It was really fun. Its something that Ive seen a lot in my mission, that the miracles always come after the hard times. If we stick it through, we will always see the miracle.

Today is the Birthday of the mission. Three years ago today, the Mission Comodoro Rivadavia was born. We got together with all of the missionaries of our zone and Rio Grande. And we hiked La Laguna Esmeralda. It is a hike to a frozen lake. It was super Beautiful. After Writing we are going to eat an Asado with all of the missionaries. Its going to be good!

I love you guys a ton. The work is going great. I love Ushuaia so much! Have a great week team!

Love,
Elder Himes

Aguante La Mision!

Hey Team! Did you guys know that I love the mission so much!? It is just so good!

We had a sweet week. This week we had conference with President. This was the last time that I got to see president Rogers. The Conference was beautiful! He talked about how much the mission has changed and how much more faith and obedience there is. We felt their love so much! At the end we sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," and I may or may not have balled my eyes out.

Right now we are teaching a women named Gladys. She has a daughter named Evalyn who is 17 years old and has lived in the hospital for the last 12 years of here life. She had an accident when she was a little girl and now needs a machine to breathe. Gladys has gone and slept in the hospital with her every night. She helps her have baths, feed herself and a lot more. It made me think about Elder Holland's talk about how the love of a mother is the closest thing on earth to the Love of Christ. My heart is full to see the sacrifice of this women.

Goodness, I just love you guys so darn much! Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Himes
